Hydro-Derm

There are often many concerns that develop as a result of ageing, including: dull skin, dry skin, pigmentation, sun damage and an uneven texture. These concerns occur as the skin changes internally, which can be contributed to by environmental and lifestyle factors. The elements we expose our skin to can affect the way the skin looks and feels, with sun exposure leading to cellular damage.

Through a combined approach, Face Medical can address a range of issues for a noticeable improvement to the appearance. Hydro-Derm is specially designed to address the tone and texture of the skin, in addition to improving skin health. The treatment is a combination of Hydrofacial and Dermalux LED therapy that works to rejuvenate the skin, and repair any cellular damage.

Cellular damage can take some time to become visible, and may eventually appear as age spots / pigmentation. With the Observ Skin Scanner we can see the deeper layers of the skin and identify any developing concerns such as these, before they appear on the surface. The results of the images created with this piece of equipment may lead to a recommendation for the Hydro-Derm Facial. Through this tailored treatment approach we can improve the health of the skin, as well as replenishing the internal tissues. Our aim will be to enhance the quality and condition of the skin from the inside out, for a more even texture and tone whilst reviving your natural glow.

Individual Treatment Programme

The Hydro-Derm facial is a combination of the Hydrofacial and Dermalux LED therapy. The processes involved in this treatment provide deep cleansing and resurfacing of the skin. We begin by carrying out the first stages of the Hydrofacial which includes: cleansing the skin and removing toxins by stimulating the lymphatic drainage system, applying botanical cleansers and glucosamine to exfoliate the surface and nourish the skin, and the application of a brightening solution to induce collagen production and loosen debris in the pores. This is followed by the award-winning Dermalux LED. This part of the treatment requires you to lie on the treatment bed while we place the Dermalux canopy over your face. The device emits low levels of light energy which is absorbed into the skin. Red light is used to help stimulate the production of collagen as well as helping to calm inflammation. Blue light is essential for oxidising the skin and regulating the production of oil. And, infrared light helps to activate the fibroblasts to increase levels of collagen and rebuild the skin’s structure.

Further Advice

The combination of red, blue and near infrared light can be tailored to meet your individual needs. The Hydro-Derm facial can take up to 1 hour, and can be carried out monthly to maintain the health and condition of the skin. It’s great as a stand alone treatment, but our practitioners would recommend using it alongside a suitable skincare routine for optimal results. With no downtime, and minimal risk of further complications, the Hydro-Derm Facial works well on almost all skin types. This includes sensitive skin as well as providing a solution to frequent breakouts of acne. As with many rejuvenating treatments that exfoliate the skin, the complexion may feel slightly more sensitive immediately following the procedure. This can mean it looks a little flushed and unprotected skin may react to the sun. You may notice an immediate brightening of the appearance, with the results continuing to develop over 4-6 weeks. Typically, patients experience a fresher, clearer, more radiant complexion.

How soon will I see results?

Results from the hydro-facial part of the treatment can be seen immediately. However, the benefits from Dermalux LED could take up to 6 weeks to fully develop.

Both the Hydrofacial and Dermalux LED processes are safe and effective solutions for rejuvenating the skin. Our practitioners won’t recommend this treatment if the results of the consultation find you are unsuitable.

Is there any aftercare?

As with any facial or skin rejuvenation treatment, the skin may require some extra care. We often advise the use of gentle skincare products and the use of a high SPF to protect the skin when exposed to the sun.
