Every face has a unique appearance and the way ageing affects the skin is also unique. Many people find they develop lines and wrinkles around the lateral aspect of their face (the outer perimeter), often before affecting the inner features, such as around the mouth and lips - whether it’s due to the loss of collagen and elastin, repeated facial movements, or a combination of both. During a consultation at Face Medical, our experienced practitioners consider the individual concerns of each patient before making a suggestion as to which specific treatment will offer the best solution, and produce an outcome that meets expectation. Many patients are familiar with a number of treatments that address the conditions brought on by ageing, and the benefits of HArmonyCa are sure to become widely known. A simple treatment session of up to 45 minutes can see a noticeable improvement in the overall appearance, with a natural looking result that can last as long as 18 months before a repeat procedure is required.

Individual Treatment Programme

The key to HArmonyCa’s ingenuity is the combination of hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa). Often described as a hybrid dermal filler, this unique infusion is administered to the affected area using the same injection. When these substances disperse within the skin’s tissues, they create a dual-action process whereby the internal structure remodels itself. Hyaluronic acid binds to the fibrous tissue to help volumise and hydrate the skin and produce the rejuvenated, lifted effect. With the addition of calcium hydroxyapatite, biostimulation is more prolonged, working to ensure the production of new collagen continues over a longer term. Our practitioners will recommend where it is best to place HArmonyCa on the face, which may consist of 1 - 3 injection points. A single treatment includes 2 syringes (one for each side of the face), both containing up to 1.25ml of filler. One session is often all that’s needed to create the desired effect, with a top-up procedure potentially required in around 6 months to enhance the results. Many patients have reported noticing an immediate difference in the condition of the skin, looking smoother and more plump. This effect will continue to develop over a few weeks to achieve a fully rejuvenated, younger looking appearance. Like many other Juvederm fillers, HArmonyCa can also be used to revitalise the look of the chest and hands.

Further Advice

An injectable treatment often comes with some minor side effects. Bruising, swelling and redness can affect the treated area, but often subsides within 24 or 48 hours. This shouldn’t cause any significant downtime, but it may be necessary to avoid the following for the first 2 days: touching the treatment site, hot showers / baths, applying make-up, strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and other facial treatments / injectables. One question we frequently get asked at the consultation is: “Will it hurt?”. As with other facial filler treatments, Face Medical provides the opportunity for a topical numbing cream to be applied before the treatment takes place, which can be discussed at consultation. HArmonyCa is administered superficially to the skin (meaning it addresses the very top layers), and in many cases the patient doesn’t feel the need to numb the skin. However, we do understand that everyone tolerates discomfort at a different level, and we can manage this accordingly.
