Facial Thread Veins

Thread veins, often referred to as spider veins, are damaged veins visible on the face or the legs. Purple, red or blue in colour, these veins often twist and branch out to create web-like patterns, causing their sufferers to experience a loss in confidence and self-esteem. However it is only the red veins visible on the face we are able to treat on the face that are treatable with Short Wave Diathermy.

There are several risk factors associated with thread veins, including pregnancy, old age and obesity. Frequent exposure to the sun, regular consumption of alcohol and diagnosed skin conditions such as rosacea may also be responsible for the emergence of those on the face. Leg-based thread veins are usually attributed to venous insufficiency, a condition which causes blood to leak into the lower part of the vein and pool, instead of travelling directly to the heart.

Crucially, thread veins are not harmful but may be cause for some individuals to seek cosmetic intervention.

At Face Medical, we use Short Wave Diathermy to reduce the prominence of facial thread veins, with our patients regularly enjoying a 60-80% improvement in the appearance of these distressing vascular blemishes.

In this process, a high frequency current is passed through the target thread veins. This heats and seals the veins in question and they will shrink and break down in the weeks after the procedure. Treatment is fast, safe and effective, with care taken to ensure that you receive the best possible results for your specific concerns.

As everybody is an individual, we always take the time to get to know you and your requirements. This means that a tailored Short Wave Diathermy treatment plan will be devised for you during your initial consultation with one of the team at Face Medical Clinic who are all experts in their field. It’s through this personal approach to treatment that we can help you to achieve your goals.

Deborah, and all of the Face Medical team, will guide you safely through every stage of your thread vein removal journey and we are committed to delivering outcomes that are subtle, natural and long-lasting.
