Dermal Fillers for Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial folds are lines that begin at the edge of the nose and extend to the corners of the mouth. Often mistakenly believed to arrive on the skin as a result of the natural ageing process, nasolabial folds are typically present from birth and are features possessed by the majority of people.

Over time, the natural departure of collagen from the skin can make these folds much more pronounced and individuals who spend more time in the sun are said to develop deeper nasolabial folds at a faster rate. Smoking and smiling are also common reasons for such an increase in visibility.

Known informally as smile lines or laugh lines, deepening nasolabial folds are a source of great annoyance and displeasure to those affected. That’s why we’re proud to use Juvéderm® dermal fillers as a method of restoring smoothness and structure to the faces of all of our patients, diminishing the appearance of nasolabial folds in the process.

Consultation

At Face Medical, we ask that all patients attend a pre-treatment consultation with a member of our aesthetics team, a practice overseen by our experienced aesthetic nurse Deborah Vines. This will provide us with the opportunity to assess the severity of your nasolabial folds and determine whether Juvéderm® dermal fillers are the appropriate aesthetic solution for you. From here, we will devise a bespoke treatment plan that takes into account the unique structure of your face and any associated issues. Your consultation will also provide you with a valuable platform for raising any concerns you may have about this treatment and to discuss your long-term skincare goals.

The Procedure

In terms of aesthetics treatments, dermal fillers are perhaps the most popular choice for patients looking to reduce the prominence of their nasolabial folds. Juvéderm® dermal fillers, which contain hyaluronic acid, are designed to plump, hydrate and lift the skin and can also fill out those parts of the face that sit close to the treatment area. During your treatment, Juvéderm® VOLIFT™ will be injected into the skin underneath the nasolabial folds or the upper half of the cheeks. Both treatments will visibly lessen the appearance of nasolabial folds.

Aftercare

As an industry-leading brand, the safety profile of Juvéderm® is second to none, meaning that patients should expect to engage in as little aftercare as possible following their treatment. This is, of course, one of the advantages of choosing to undergo a non-surgical procedure, with minimal side effects such as swelling or redness normally subsiding within 1-2 days and a return to your normal routine a distinct possibility straight after your treatment. The main things to avoid in the 24 hours after dermal filler treatment are alcohol and strenuous exercise.
