Three new ZO Skin Health Retinols: Which one is right for your skin?

Face Medical - Three new ZO Skin Health Retinols Which one is right for your skin

A more targeted approach to retinol

Retinol is a well-established skincare ingredient used to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and blemish-related concerns. However, choosing a product isn’t simply about selecting a strength. Different formulations can be designed to address different skin priorities.

ZO Skin Health has introduced three new products containing 0.3% retinol: Wrinkle + Texture 0.3, Retinol Skin Brightener 0.3 and Clear Renewal. Each uses the brand’s ZO-RDS™ Retinol Delivery System, a liposomal encapsulation technology designed to support targeted delivery and help minimise the appearance of irritation.

Although the three products share the same retinol concentration and delivery technology, they have different intended uses. Understanding these distinctions can help you explore the options most relevant to your skin.

1 Wrinkle + Texture 0.3: for fine lines and uneven texture

If your main concerns are visible fine lines, wrinkles and rough or uneven skin texture, Wrinkle + Texture 0.3 is designed with these priorities in mind.

The formulation uses encapsulated retinol to support visible skin renewal, helping to smooth the appearance of rough texture and soften the look of lines and wrinkles. It also includes ZO’s ZCORE™ and ZPRO™ complexes, which are intended to support the appearance of skin firmness, resilience and hydration.

With continued use, the product is designed to improve the appearance of skin texture and visible signs of ageing.

Best suited to: those looking to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven texture.

2 Retinol Skin Brightener 0.3: for uneven skin tone

Uneven skin tone and visible discolouration can develop for a variety of reasons, including sun exposure and marks left after blemishes. Retinol Skin Brightener 0.3 is designed to address these concerns while supporting a smoother, brighter-looking complexion.

Its encapsulated retinol formulation promotes skin renewal and helps improve the appearance of discolouration. Bakuchiol, bisabolol and sunflower sprout extract are among the other highlighted ingredients in the formula.

The aim is to improve the appearance of uneven tone while supporting a more comfortable product experience.

Best suited to: those concerned about visible discolouration, uneven-looking skin tone and a lack of radiance.

Daily sun protection remains important when addressing discolouration, particularly when using retinol.

3 Clear Renewal: for oily and blemish-prone skin

Retinol isn’t only used in routines focused on visible ageing. Clear Renewal is designed for oily, blemish-prone skin, with a particular focus on excess surface oil, congestion, uneven texture and post-blemish marks.

Alongside 0.3% encapsulated retinol, the formula contains 1% salicylic acid to help exfoliate the skin and reduce the appearance of pore congestion. Potassium azeloyl diglycinate helps address the appearance of excess oil, while ZO-RRS2™ provides antioxidant support.

The product is designed to help refine the appearance of pores, improve the look of post-blemish marks and promote a more balanced-looking complexion.

Best suited to: those concerned about excess oil, congestion, blemish-prone skin and the marks that can remain after breakouts.

Persistent, painful or scarring acne may need assessment by an appropriate healthcare professional rather than skincare products alone.

What is ZO-RDS™ technology?

All three new formulations use ZO-RDS™, ZO Skin Health’s proprietary retinol delivery system.

The technology uses liposomal encapsulation, which is designed to help protect retinol against oxidation and degradation while supporting controlled, targeted delivery. According to the manufacturer, this approach aims to support skin renewal while helping minimise the appearance of irritation.

Retinol can still cause dryness, redness, peeling or stinging, however, and no delivery system guarantees that a product will be irritation-free. Your skin’s sensitivity, existing routine and previous experience with active ingredients all influence how well you may tolerate a particular product.

Follow the specific product directions, avoid introducing several new active ingredients at once and seek professional advice if you are unsure which formulation is suitable for you.

Growth Factor Serum: a formula update

Alongside the new retinols, ZO Skin Health’s Growth Factor Serum has also received a formula update.

Growth Factor Serum is designed to support the appearance of smoother, healthier-looking skin. If you’re already using the product, check the latest product information to understand the current formulation and application guidance before making changes to your routine.

The updated serum can be considered alongside other products in the ZO range, but the right combination will depend on your skin concerns and the active ingredients you already use. A skincare professional can help you decide how best to incorporate it.

Updated ZO Skin Health skincare programmes

The latest product launches are not the only changes to discover. Five ZO Skin Health programmes available through Face Medical have also been updated, offering coordinated product combinations for different skincare priorities.

These programmes provide a structured approach to skincare, but they aren’t interchangeable. For example, a routine designed for oily, blemish-prone skin may not be the most appropriate choice for someone whose main concern is dryness or visible redness.

Consider your skin type, current concerns and tolerance of active ingredients before choosing a programme.

Finding the right products for your skin

The introduction of Wrinkle + Texture 0.3, Retinol Skin Brightener 0.3 and Clear Renewal gives you three targeted ways to explore retinol within the ZO Skin Health range.

Rather than choosing a product based on strength alone, consider what you want to address: visible lines and uneven texture, discolouration, or excess oil and blemish-related concerns. Your wider routine matters, too, particularly when it comes to hydration, barrier support and daily sun protection.

If you’re considering a new retinol or reviewing your existing skincare, professional guidance can help you make an informed choice.
