Face Medical are getting a grip on hip dips

Over the years we’ve seen many changes in body trends; whether that’s for larger breasts, fuller lips, enhanced cheekbones or more shapely buttocks.

This summer, it seems the latest concern that’s getting a lot of attention is ‘hip dips’ – the depressions that appear on the outside of the upper thighs, just below the hip bone.

This feature appears differently from person to person, mainly affecting caucasian women who have taller hip bones. For some people the concern is more enhanced, yet others seem not to have them at all. It’s the shape of the pelvis and the way the muscles and fatty deposits are arranged within the body that determines the appearance of hip dips (known medically as trochanteric indentations). However, they can also develop later in life, when muscle mass starts to decrease. Hip dips can be particularly noticeable when wearing close fitting clothes and are often considered to be unattractive. Wanting to get rid of hip dips is becoming very popular, as smoother curves are thought of as more desirable.

For many people, a healthy and active lifestyle is popular, which is something our clinic would always advocate. Regular high impact exercise can help to reduce fat and build muscle in the body (including the area around the thighs and hips) which can alter the shape and size of the body, – however, this is not always effective with hip dips, or effective enough.

This summer, Face Medical has got a grip on hip dips, having recently introduced Lanluma face and body fillers to their treatment menu. The poly-L-lactic acid within Lanluma’s unique formulation encourages the natural production of collagen where it has been placed. This helps to volumise the deeper layers of the skin to naturally fill out indentations that occur beneath its surface.

We’re aware that many people are looking forward to a summer holiday; whether choosing to stay-cation or to jet-off somewhere more exotic. It’s in the run up to the seasonal break that getting the body ready to hit the beach or the pool comes to the forefront of the mind.

Lanluma produces instant volume to the skin, but continues to develop over the weeks that follow. Many patients have achieved great results with Lanluma face and body fillers, especially in creating a more desirable shape to the hips.

For more information on Lanluma, or to book a consultation with one of our experts, contact Face Medical.
