How HRT works

BHRT at Face Medical begins with an in-depth consultation session with Deborah Vines, our in-house cosmetic nurse. During your discussion she will seek to establish your medical history, lifestyle and any concerns you may have about the treatment. 

Next, a series of blood tests and a complete health check will be conducted to determine the level of vitamin D and hormones in your body. Depending on how conclusive the results are, you may need to undergo further tests.

The treatment

Based on the results of the examination, Deborah will know which course of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy to recommend. She will map out a treatment regime suited to your individual needs. The treatment will be carried out using hormones and supplements administered in the form of lozenges, tablets or a cream, depending on which are best suited to you.

No side effects

The key ingredient of the BHRT hormones that mimic the ones produced by the human body is Diosgenin, a substance that naturally occurs in Mexican yams. This means that you need not fear any adverse side effects.

A routine review will be carried out after the first two months of treatment to monitor your progress. If need be, your treatment will be adjusted thereafter. Deborah will conduct another review six months later.
